This was a wonderfully nostalgic week for me. When I make Peanut Butter Balls it takes me back to my childhood, when I was just a little girl who loved this dish so much and wanted nothing more in the world than to eat it every day! I get to share that joy through the dish, everytime I make it for my family. And with my wonderful stylist Jamie Cribbs showing up to share stories and jokes, my kitchen was glowing with warmth and fun and good cheer. And of course, peanut butter!
Congrats to the winners of this week's ACTIVITY OF THE WEEK Challenge: Jennifer Grimm and Janie Ebinger.
And congrats to the two winners of the Peanut Butter Week Mad Libs: Heather Brown and Dorothy Free.
Love and Best Dishes,
Paula

Peanut Butter Monday Mad Libs
Posted by Paula Deen on Monday, Oct 12, 2009 at 5:07 pm
I had such a good time reading everyone's Honey Week Mad Libs last week, that I was thinking I could make it a weekly thing for us all to do! So every week I'll give you a little story of about food and family and you fill in the blanks. Simple and fun! I can't wait!
Here is this week's story, and don't forget to keep it PG ;)
"I came home from school, hungry for afternoon snack. I usually ate ______________, but today my Mom made me something different. I got so excited when she pulled the jar of peanut butter from the cupboard. That could mean only one thing, she was making ______________! I watched her make the delicious dish, my eyes wide, knowing how tasty it would be. We sat down together and dug in. Just like I expected, it was ______________!"
Just copy and paste that story into the comments section, with your words filled in. I will pick two winners at random and each of them will get a free set of my Recipe Cards.
Your deadline is tomorrow, Tuesday the 13th at 12pm EST. Good luck!
Love and Best Dishes,
Paula

Peanut Butter Time!
Posted by Paula Deen on Thursday, Oct 8, 2009 at 6:55 pm
Peanut Butter holds a very special place in my heart. Back when I was just a girl, I had the most delicious Peanut Butter Balls at my school cafeteria. I would look forward to them every week, and I never lost my craving for them. I tried to make them on my own, but they never tasted the same. I tried for years and years and never got it right. But one day, out of the blue, I bumped into the daughter of the cafeteria cook who made the Peanut Butter Balls I loved so much, and she gave me the recipe! I raced home, made a batch and was in heaven. That wonderful childhood food memory, just as I had always wanted.
Now I make them all the time for my grandson Jack and he loves them! And you can be sure I'm keeping this recipe in a very safe place!
This week my stylist Jamie Cribbs joined me in the kitchen, and we made a batch of Peanut Butter Balls. Jamie is the greatest and so talented. It's such fun to cook with him while he tells stories about his crazy childhood and the foods he loved to eat. And we were lucky to have a special surprise guest stop by to sample our dish, but I won't tell you who ;)
ACTIVITY OF THE WEEK
Submit photos or videos of you making a dish with Peanut Butter in it. We need to see you in some way in the pictures or video to verify that it is your submission. If you submit a photo, please write up a recipe in your blog. If you don’t know how to upload a blog, picture or video, you can read about it in our FAQ HERE.
Final time to submit your dish is Tuesday, October 13th at 5:00 PM PST. The two winners will each get a copy of my new book 'Paula Deen's Cookbook for the Lunch-Box Set'.
