Hey y'all!
This week was such a blast for me! Not only was it all about honey, one of my favorite sweet treats, but I got to share the kitchen with my good friend Ted Dennard of the Savannah Bee Company. Or should I say Dreamy Ted ;) We tried some of the most amazing honey! Honey is a perfect compliment on biscuits, toast, apples, pork tenderloin or just about anything! Yum!
Ted wanted to say a few words to y'all as well, so here he is. Take it away, Dreamy!
Hi y'all. It sure is great to be a part of Paula’s Get Cookin’ this week. Paula and I made some magic in the kitchen with our new Savannah Bee Grill Honey featuring our no drip honey pump that lets you smother your dishes with honey without getting sticky! We’ll also tantalize your taste buds with 100% edible honeycomb served on warm biscuits fresh from the oven. Be sure to try our other two new varietal blend honeys (Tea and Cheese) too. You can find them all and more at www.savannahbee.com.

Isn't he just the sweetest?!
Congrats to the winners of this week's ACTIVITY OF THE WEEK Challenge: Lora Speiser and Joan Gorman!
And congrats to the five winners of the bonus surprise honeycomb giveaway: Denise Hollis, Cindy Allen, Allison Hairr Cleveland, Nancy Heap, Debra Wells!
I loved everyone's Honey Mad Libs, they were all so much fun to read!

Bonus Surprise Giveaway!
Posted by Paula Deen on Tuesday, Oct 6, 2009 at 1:43 pm
Hey y'all, I have a bonus surprise treat for you today. My good friend Ted Dennard from the Savannah Bee Company was nice enough to give me five fresh honeycombs for the Get Cookin' community! And this is beyond the wonderful prize packages he is putting together for the Activity Challenge winners! So now the question becomes, what to do with this bonus surprise...
Everyone knows how much I love family dinners. Sitting around the table, sharing your day, bonding; it's some of my most favorite time I've spent with my family. Part of that fun is in how that dinner came together. My experiences in the kitchen, putting a meal together that we could all enjoy. This community is about putting those meals together; creating that wonderful family dinner. So in keeping with this theme, I've put together a little game, and the winners will get the bonus surprise honeycombs.
We wrote up a little story that has some holes in it. In the comments section, I'd like you to fill those holes and finish the story. A little Get Cookin' Honey Week Mad Libs! Five stories will be picked at random, and those users will each get a fresh Savannah Bee Company honeycomb! One thing, though: try to keep it PG, y'all!
Here is the story:
"It was time to cook dinner for the family. But all I had to cook was honey and ______________. So I measured and mixed and baked and hoped, and thirty minutes later I had cooked ______________. We gathered around the table, all eyes on my dish. My heart racing, nervous, sure it was a disaster. Everyone took a bite and we all had the same reaction, ‘__________________’.
Another successful family dinner!"
Just copy and paste that story into the comments section, with your words filled in. Simple as that. Your deadline is today at 8pm EST. Good luck!

Community Honey
Posted by Paula Deen on Monday, Oct 5, 2009 at 6:07 pm
The sweet taste of honey can be found in abundance over on the Community Dishes blog. From Peanut Butter Honey Cups to Honey Tarts, Ambrosia Buffets, and more delicious honey-infused pastries. I'm gonna go spread some honey over toast and read up on what everyone's got cookin'!
Upload your own Honey pics and video, flag them as "cool", and we will post them to the Community Dishes blog. The two winning dishes will get a free set of the Savannah Bee Company's Grill, Tea and Cheese Honey set, their very own fresh honeycomb and a Beeswax Hand Cream.
Love and Best Dishes,
Paula

Honey Time!
Posted by Paula Deen on Thursday, Oct 1, 2009 at 5:51 pm
Ladies, do I have a treat for you! Michael Groover, cover your eyes :)
This week on Get Cookin' we are cookin' with honey. Did you know that honey is the only food that doesn't spoil? Seriously, you could eat honey from a thousand years ago and it would still be good. Wow, those bees sure do make a quality product! Speaking of quality products, we are using the most wonderful honey made by my good friend Ted Dennard. Ted owns the Savannah Bee Company. He is such a smart and interesting guy, and cute as a button! He was in the peace corp and learned about bee keeping at a very young age. Ted took his passion for honey and started the Savannah Bee Company. I think they make some of the world's best honey and I'd love for you to try some.
We prepared honey glazed pork tenderloin and we made honey butter! I honestly can't think of anything better in the world than honey butter. I eat a slice of wheat toast with honey almost every day for breakfast, it is so delicious and not too bad for me. I hope y'all love honey as much as I do because you are in for a sweet week!
ACTIVITY OF THE WEEK
Submit photos or videos of you making a dish with Honey in it. We need to see you in some way in the pictures or video to verify that it is your submission. If you submit a photo, please write up a recipe in your blog. If you don’t know how to upload a blog, picture or video, you can read about it in our FAQ HERE. Final time to submit your dish is Tuesday, October 6th at 5:00 PM PST. The two winners will get a free set of the Savannah Bee Company's Grill, Tea and Cheese Honey set, their very own fresh honeycomb and a Beeswax Hand Cream.
