Hey y'all!

Bobby came over to cook up a tasty tailgating dish and cheer on Georgia (no Tech fans allowed!). We made Bacon and Cheese Jalapeno Poppers. They were tasty, but boy were they hot! Cooking with your kids is always fun, unless they make something that burns your mouth!

Tailgating dishes should be about fun, taste and good cheer (and not hurtin your Mama!). With out a lot of space or comfort to cook at the stadiums, it can be tricky coming up with dishes that you can make night before and have ready for the pre-game festivities. That was your challenge for the week, and y'all did a great job!

Congrats to the winners of this week's ACTIVITY OF THE WEEK Challenge: Kwanjai Burgess and Shawn Collins!

  • For Texas Tech (Go Red Raiders!) we need good Texas BBQ!
  • Cucumbers help the heat too... I prefer them instead of celery when I'm eating buffalo wings and jalapeno poppers...
  • Hey y'all! Congrats to the winners!!!

  • I just noticed, Bobby's glove on his right hand seemed to have a hole in the index finger ( first finger on the right hand). Did anyone else notice that?
  • Hey, glad those two won! I responded to them both that I can't wait to make their dishes. I'm really happy to be a part of all this fun, can't wait to see what is next!!

  • those remind me of the old Cosby Show.. Theo loved his Dad's Bacon Burger Dogs.

    congrats to the winners!

  • How can you go wrong if bacon and cheese are there? The only thing that I want to neutralize the hot is more spicy please! A lil pinch of sugar does wonders too for those not to fond of the burn, though! These Poppers sound to die for Paula!
  • OMG - YAY....I hope yall enjoy the Armadillo Eggs....nice surprise after a long day
  • You know what would make those poppers even better? Brown sugar! Remember when you dredged the bacon in brown sugar? That would help with the heat and add a sweet touch....just a thought. Gotta have some sweet with your hot!
  • yum! Congrats to the winners!!

Back to Basics

Hey y'all!

I'm so pleased to show you my brand new website design: http://www.PaulaDeen.com.

It's filled with new information, beautiful pictures and love. Not to mention a great big old spotlight on Get Cookin', so we can build and grow this wonderful community!

I love being in the kitchen, but my heart belongs at the dinner table, with my family. So next month we're launching a new part of the site that will be all about food! It's designed to help busy families find the time to sit around the dinner table and connect and bond.

I hope you find the new site helpful, we've loaded it up with great tips, how-tos and even more delicious Southern cooking recipes! If you want to learn more about the new site, you can click HERE.

And don't forget, you have just a few days left to submit your Tailgating dishes for this week's Activity Challenge!

Tailgating Time!

Posted by Paula Deen on Thursday, Sep 17, 2009 at 7:24 pm

Hey y’all!

We’re heading into fall, and that can only mean one thing: College Football. For me, that also means it’s time to start cookin’ some proper Tailgating food. This is a University of Georgia household (don’t let Jamie or Bobby catch you in a Tech shirt around these parts!), and we know all about celebrating our team and celebrating the game. This week Bobby came over to make a delicious tailgating dish: Jalapeno Poppers. We stuffed our Poppers with Jack Cheese and wrapped ‘em in bacon… sooo delicious!

For our tailgating, we like to keep things simple. We find it’s better to prepare as much of the dish as possible at home so we can spend more of our tailgating time catching up with friends and Dawg fans, and less time huddled by the grill.

You can find the Jalapeno Poppers recipe in Jamie and Bobby’s new cookbook ‘Take It Easy’, which you can buy HERE.

ACTIVITY OF THE WEEK

Submit photos or videos of you making a dish you could use for Tailgating. We need to see you in some way in the pictures or video to verify that it is your submission. If you submit a photo, please write up a recipe in your blog. If you don’t know how to upload a blog, picture or video, you can read about it in our FAQ HERE.

Final time to submit your dish is Tuesday, September 22th at 5:00 PM PST. The two winners will get Paula Deen Hot Sauce, Vidalia Onion Steak Sauce, and Raspberry Chipotle Sauce, perfect to use on when Tailgating!

Love, Best Dishes and Go Dawgs!
