Hey y'all!
Jamie and Bobby came over to cook up a Banana recipe from their new book "The Deen Bros - Take It Easy". You can order it HERE. Having everyone in my kitchen was a dream. My boys turned into kids again and it was so much fun.
This week's dish, Bananas, really brings that out. It’s a very Friendly family food, perfect for baking, easy to put into a variety of dishes. That was this week's challenge, to find the right dish to put Bananas in. Let's find out how you did the best!
Congrats to the winners of this week's ACTIVITY OF THE WEEK Challenge: Mandy H and Dustin Todd Rennells!
Love and Best Dishes,
Paula

Can you freeze the bananas on the stick before dipping them into the chocolate? That way they will set up faster. I thnk I may have to try the peanut butter chips and drizzle with chocolate. I just love eating a banana with a spoonful of peanut butter. Love you ideas. -

I remember getting frozen bananas at the beach when I was kid. They had with or without peanuts. They also used to have a banana milk shake which you could choose vanilla or chocolate ice cream.
I was wondering if you can melt dark chocolate to make these. Now my daughters want to try to make them. -

Banana Time!
Posted by Paula Deen on Thursday, Sep 10, 2009 at 6:08 pm
Hey y’all!
We're cookin' with Bananas this week. This is one of my favorite fruits because they are so fun to cook with. You can keep them in form and still have fun, or transform them into something wild and delicious. And they are good for you, too! Bananas give you a great dose of Vitamin B, Vitamin C and potassium. At Lady & Sons, our Banana Pudding is one of the most popular dishes on the menu! Bananas are truly a wonderful food.
One of the best things about Bananas is that they can bring a family together. Take some bananas, throw in some chocolate and candy and just watch your older children turn into little kids again. I know mine do!
ACTIVITY OF THE WEEK
Submit photos or videos of you making a dish with Bananas. You can have it be the main part or use it as part of a dish. We need to see you in some way in the pictures or video to verify that it is your submission. If you submit a photo, please write up a recipe in your blog. If you don’t know how to upload a blog, picture or video, you can read about it in our FAQ HERE. Final time to submit your dish is Tuesday, September 15th at 5:00 PM PST. The two winners will get a signed a copy of Jamie and Bobby's new book 'Take It Easy'.

Featured Recipe
- Chocolate Dipped Frozen Bananas with Coconut
- From The Deen Brothers, Take It Easy:
Ingredients
One 12 ounce package semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 cups sweetened coconut flakes
4 large bananas, halved
Place the chocolate chips into a shallow microwave-safe dish. Microwave on medium power for 2 to 4 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds. When the chocolate is melted, stir in the vegetable oil.
Place the coconut in a separate dish and break up any clumps with your fingers. Spear each banana half with a wooden stick, starting from the wider cut side of the banana and going two-thirds of the way up.
Holding on to the stick, dip the banana in the chocolate and turn to coat evenly. Roll the chocolate-covered banana in the dish of coconut and transfer the banana to a plate lined with waxed paper or aluminum foil. Repeat with the rest of the bananas. Place the plate in the freezer for at least 20 minutes and up to overnight. Serve cold, on the stick.
