Hey y'all!

Jamie and Bobby came over to cook up a Banana recipe from their new book "The Deen Bros - Take It Easy".  You can order it HERE.  Having everyone in my kitchen was a dream.  My boys turned into kids again and it was so much fun.

This week's dish, Bananas, really brings that out.  It’s a very Friendly family food, perfect for baking, easy to put into a variety of dishes. That was this week's challenge, to find the right dish to put Bananas in. Let's find out how you did the best!

Congrats to the winners of this week's ACTIVITY OF THE WEEK Challenge: Mandy H and Dustin Todd Rennells!

Congrats to the winners everything looked so good!!!!!
  • facebook entry said a hint is go dawgs.. could it be something pork? as in pigskin, or because they are playing Arkansas this weekend? lol just a guess.. so many diff kinds of tailgating foods, i narrowed it down to pork.

congrats to this week's winners, never go wrong w/a banana
  • Can you freeze the bananas on the stick before dipping them into the chocolate?  That way they will set up faster.  I thnk I may have to try the peanut butter chips and drizzle with chocolate.  I just love eating a banana with a spoonful of peanut butter.  Love you ideas.
  • I remember getting frozen bananas at the beach when I was kid. They had with or without peanuts. They also used to have a banana milk shake which you could choose vanilla or chocolate ice cream.
I was wondering if you can melt dark chocolate to make these. Now my daughters want to try to make them.
  • I love that BIG blue bowl sitting there in front of yall. Where would I find that???

Banana Time!

Posted by Paula Deen on Thursday, Sep 10, 2009 at 6:08 pm

Hey y’all!

We're cookin' with Bananas this week.  This is one of my favorite fruits because they are so fun to cook with.  You can keep them in form and still have fun, or transform them into something wild and delicious.  And they are good for you, too!  Bananas give you a great dose of Vitamin B, Vitamin C and potassium.  At Lady & Sons, our Banana Pudding is one of the most popular dishes on the menu!  Bananas are truly a wonderful food.

One of the best things about Bananas is that they can bring a family together.  Take some bananas, throw in some chocolate and candy and just watch your older children turn into little kids again.  I know mine do!

ACTIVITY OF THE WEEK

Submit photos or videos of you making a dish with Bananas.  You can have it be the main part or use it as part of a dish.   We need to see you in some way in the pictures or video to verify that it is your submission.  If you submit a photo, please write up a recipe in your blog. If you don’t know how to upload a blog, picture or video, you can read about it in our FAQ HERE.

Final time to submit your dish is Tuesday, September 15th at 5:00 PM PST.  The two winners will get a signed a copy of Jamie and Bobby's new book 'Take It Easy'.
