OMG, I think I gained twenty pounds that week!  Apple, Cherry, Peach, Pear and then Pineapple !!!!   So good and I really with thru alot of sugar, I think I need to call the dentist!  lol

  • For anyone wanting to taste a true southern Peach Cobbler, this is it! I have my Grandmothers recipes and this is her recipe for also. I have substituted the milk with French Vanilla Creamer and it is wonderful too.
  • Wow...I made this resipe and my family just loves it........this is now my family's favorite dessert for the holidays, and just anytime served right out of the oven with ice cream on the top(i love in the fall and winter seasons-warm/hot) mmm good......
  • This is very similar to my Momma's peach cobbler.  When my ex husband was in the Navy stationed in Virginia we used to drive to Ohio to visit my parents a few times a year and peach cobbler was always on my dinner request list!

    Momma's Peach Cobbler

    1 cup self rising flour
    1 stick butter
    1 cup sugar
    1 cup milk
1 jar of home canned peaches (ok, fine, you can you two cans of store bought, but it's not the same!)
    sprinkle of ground ginger

Melt butter in 9x13 baking pan
Stir together flour, sugar, milk and ginger
    Pour over butter
Using a fork, drop the peach halves onto the batter
Drizzle some of the peach juice over the top, use no more than about 1/4 cup
Bake at 350 for about an hour or until golden brown

My mom just came to Texas to see me this past weekend, guess what she made me? Yup, peach cobbler!  Even Yankees know how to make a good cobbler ;)

Peach Cobbler Week

Posted by Paula Deen on Thursday, Aug 13, 2009 at 9:20 pm

Hey Y’all,

We had a fun time this past week talking about exercising, but it’s time to get back in the kitchen and make something delicious.  Also, with all that health talk, I wanted to make sure we chose a dish with lots of butter and sugar! ;)

August is national peach month and there is no better place in the world to get peaches than my wonderful home state of Georgia.  We are featuring some delicious peach recipes in our Food Section.  So I was going through the peach recipes and thinking about all my favorite peach dishes.  Now anyone that calls themselves a southern cook better have a great recipe for Peach Cobbler.  Peach Cobbler is one of those dishes that is made in southern kitchen and the recipes are passed down through generations. When we opened the Lady (before the Lady & Sons) peach cobbler was one of the first dishes on my menu.  We have a great cobblers at the Lady & Sons so make sure to try it when you are in Savannah.

I have a really simple but amazingly delicious cobbler recipe that I want to share with you. It can be made with pears, blueberries, and apples . . . but this week we are using peaches.  So this coming Wednesday I will post my version of a traditional southern peach cobbler.  I have posted the recipe below in case you want to try it.  In the meantime, it’s time for y’all to Get Cookin’!

ACTIVITY OF THE WEEK

Alright, it’s your turn. I want to see your peach cobbler dishes.  Get creative and make them unique. I’d love to see videos of you preparing them or filming family or friends preparing them. Make sure to check out the Community Blog over the course of the week to see what everyone is making and give feedback. I just love seeing all of your recipes and watching y’all cook!
